The Homeless Solutions philosophy is “A Hand Up, Not A HandOUT,” and since 1983 we have been offering shelter, services, and supportive housing to the homeless and working poor in Morris County, New Jersey.
Each year over 500 dedicated volunteers, share their time and talents with us in support of our Mission and Programs. They prepare dinner, help at events, garden, lead workshops, host Game Nights for our children, and do so much more! They make a difference in the lives of those in need.
Work Out for a Cause!
On October 16th, Homeless Solutions held its 10th Annual Women’s Day. The event drew 200 women from Morris and Somerset County for a day filled with wellness while raising funds for homeless families. It has established a loyal following of attendees and evolved into the premier charitable event for women in Morris County. Held at the Hamilton Farms Golf Club in Gladstone, attendee’s not only raised their heart rates but raised a record high in net proceeds for childcare. These funds are critically needed in helping shelter guests ensure their children are safe and secure while they look for permanent jobs and stable housing.
News & Announcements
Great Ride. Great Team. Great Cause.
Our “Riding for Homes” team cycled over 3,000 miles and raised almost $60,000 for Homeless Solutions’ newest affordable home in Morristown. And, they looked cool doing it. On Sunday, September 10th HSI took part in the Gran Fondo NJ for the 7th year. Between the tie-dye jerseys, an exciting expo and finish line filled with volunteers cheering with their cowbells, we couldn’t be missed! The team has grown from three riders during our inaugural year in 2011 to 75 riders including four Board Members and five HSI staff members.
In addition to HSI being a beneficiary of the event, our “Riding for Homes” team did their own fundraising.
We would like to thank our sponsors, CideRoad for keeping our riders hydrated, and Massage Heights Morristown for easing our riders’ sore muscles after the ride. Thank you to the expo volunteers, the rest stop volunteers and The Randolph High School cheerleaders for keeping our riders motivated. This was truly a team effort!
