Background
In 2008 Headquarters Development will be transforming a dilapidated single-family home into a practically-new two-family home. Each unit will have two bedrooms, be Energy Star rated and utilize green building techniques and materials. It is up the street from our 12-unit Abbett Avenue Apartments, which also be completed in 2008.
The redesigned house and property have a lot of curb appeal, and the location is a fantastic example of “smart growth” and affordable housing. It is on a bus line and is walking distance to the train station, downtown Morristown (with job and retail opportunities), many churches, and a neighborhood park. Demographics indicate almost half of the rental households in the neighborhood pay over 30 percent of their income for housing.
As with all of our rental property, the apartments will be “service enriched”. Tenants will be able to take advantage of programs and services offered by our organization and consult with our Community Outreach Specialist—a trained social worker—for issues that arise in their lives.
